Reading, signing and art exhibition

Let me tell you a story was launched at the Virgin Megastore Café in Downtown Beirut on December 21, 2004. A book reading and signing session took place between 5 & 8 pm in the presence of many of the authors and illustrators, most of whom are celebrities and public figures that united for a common cause to accomplish a rather unexpected goal: writing a children’s book and helping to raise funds for the treatment of children with cancer, knowing that 45% of the proceeds from each book sale will be donated to the Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon.

Among the attendees was the President of Beiteddine Festivals, Nora JOUMBLATT, Writer and Producer, Camille SALAMEH, the President of Green Garden Group, Regina FENIANOS, Miss Lebanon 99, Norma NAOUM, Authors Xuan QUIN from China and Clara MAUD MURPHY from Ireland, and many, many others.

Caroline MCCABE HARIZ, mother of two of the young authors and contributing editor introduced the project to the audience. Taped interviews were conducted and some of the stories were read aloud by actor/painter Hassan BEHROUZ LAVASSANY who is also an author in the book.

The highlight of the launch was an art exhibition. Let me tell you a story artwork and illustrations, creatively framed by Passepartout and adorning nomadic display stands furnished by Pierre AOUN (Cosmix), attracted many of the attendees who enjoyed exquisite blends of Twinnings Tea provided by B. Foods in support of the project.

In the children’s corner, furnished through the generous contribution of Poile de Carotte, kids enjoyed drawing and coloring. They were not only great listeners, but they also addressed the audience, read and commented on their stories, and signed copies of the book. Friends and relatives of the authors were at hand as well as all the team from the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon and Byblos Bank who supported the project since its beginning.
